The Mornington Peninsula
The Mornington Peninsula, on the eastern arm of Port Phillip Bay, is well regarded as Melbourne’s holiday playground, and with good reason. With its heady mixture of undulating hills, sparkling stretches of sandy shore, rugged surf and stunning coastal scenery, the Mornington Peninsula is a popular year-round destination for holiday makers.
Surrounding regions never fail to delight visitors, be they the discerning traveller or the adventurous beach comber. Here, water-based activities dominate the many popular surf beaches.

Philip Island
Just over an hour and a half’s drive from Melbourne, and the landscape of Phillip Island becomes the domain of the unique wildlife colonies that have made this place an internationally renowned destination for nature lovers and the curious. This is the home to the famous Fairy Penguin Parade where, every night at Summerland Beach, you can witness the comical teams of Penguins, weary after a hard day’s fishing, as they waddle their way up the sand dunes from the sea. Encounter the world’s largest fur seal colony, meet a koala or witness mutton birds in graceful soaring flight before they attempt yet another faulty landing. Close by are sheltered beaches where you will find safe swimming, or follow the waves to Cape Wollamai for surfing where land and sea collide in spectacular fashion.

Lakes Entrance
Travel east of the perimeter of the Wilson’s Promontory National Park in the southern-most point of mainland Australia, and follow the coast to Lakes Entrance to discover yet another holiday haven. Lakes Entrance has earned the distinction of being Victoria’s main holiday playground, with a ton of tourist-orientated attractions and stunning lakes which lead the way to the famous and beautiful Ninety Mile Beach. Excellent surfing and swimming beaches abound nearby, as well as the series of flooded valleys which extend far inland. Along the Lakes Entrance esplanade is a profusion of gourmet delights, and a variety of accommodation choices lie nearby. With so many wonderful attributes, Lakes Entrance is sure to fulfil any holiday expectations for couples in search of romance by the shimmering waters of lakes and sea.
